Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Oncology Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Baylor Scott & White Health. This role will specialize in Bone Marrow Transplant and provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic and supportive environment.

About the Role
  • This is a full-time position, working 40 hours per week, with a competitive salary of $120,000 per year.

In this role, you will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing bone marrow transplant. You will assess patient needs, develop treatment plans, and implement interventions to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise in acute care and oncology nursing will be invaluable in providing exceptional patient care.

Responsibilities
  1. Assess patient physical and mental conditions by performing comprehensive or problem-focused physical examinations and medical histories.
  2. Order, collect, interpret, and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests to assess patient problems and healthcare needs.
  3. Prescribe, recommend, and/or employ medical drug therapies or other forms of related therapeutic treatments and procedures according to approved protocols/policies with attention to efficacy, safety, and cost.
  4. Develop and implement comprehensive outcomes-based patient treatment plans based on patient assessments, evidence-based medicine, standards of care, professional practice guidelines, and in collaboration with physicians and other interdisciplinary team members when appropriate.
  5. Counsel patients and families regarding medical processes, management of the health illness/condition, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
  6. Maintain appropriate records detailing the patient’s treatment plans and outcomes. Initiate timely consultation and referral when the problem exceeds scope of practice and/or expertise.
Requirements
  • A valid NP license in the state of Texas.
  • Advanced knowledge of oncology and acute care nursing practices.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
