Mechanical Engineering Professor

We are seeking a highly qualified Associate Professor in Mechanical Engineering to join our faculty at the University of Alabama. The successful candidate will have a strong research background and a proven track record of scholarly productivity and impact.
The Department of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Alabama is committed to conducting cutting-edge research and providing an outstanding educational experience for our students. We are looking for a candidate who can contribute to our research efforts and teach classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline and a demonstrated record of prior research work and impactful scholarly publications. They will also have a strong commitment to teaching and a proven ability to develop and teach classes in their area of expertise.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct research in Mechanical Engineering and publish scholarly articles in refereed journals and conference proceedings.
- Teach classes at both the undergraduate and graduate levels in Mechanical Engineering.
- Develop and implement new courses and programs in Mechanical Engineering.
- Advise and mentor students in Mechanical Engineering.
- Participate in departmental and university service activities.
Requirements:
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
- Demonstrated record of prior research work and impactful scholarly publications.
- Strong commitment to teaching and a proven ability to develop and teach classes in their area of expertise.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 5+ years of experience as a tenure-track/tenured faculty member at a leading peer R1 institution.
- Demonstrated record of building and sustaining a high-quality, productive, and impactful research program.
- Excellent teaching and mentoring skills.
- Strong record of external grant funding.
