The Environmental Services Technician II is responsible for ensuring that designated areas within the healthcare facility are kept clean and orderly.
This role includes reporting any maintenance issues or repairs necessary to uphold the aesthetic and functional integrity of the facility and its surroundings.
The employee may have access to secure areas to fulfill their job responsibilities.Key Responsibilities
- Perform dust mopping and wet mopping of hard floor surfaces using disinfectant solutions in accordance with departmental procedures.
- Execute thorough cleaning and disinfection protocols based on assigned tasks and areas.
- Engage with patients and their environment while carrying out duties.
- Dispose of waste following established Waste Handling and Removal procedures, adhering to safety protocols.
- Contribute to departmental quality improvement initiatives by providing feedback and staying informed about current performance metrics.
- Strip wax from hard floor surfaces and reapply wax as per departmental maintenance guidelines.
- Buff hard floor surfaces to maintain their appearance.
- Utilize conventional or industrial vacuum cleaners to clean carpets.
- Buff carpets as per established schedules and respond to additional requests as needed.
- Extract carpets and furniture according to predetermined schedules and upon request.
- Demonstrate knowledge of necessary supplies and proper usage of cleaning materials.
- Utilize applications for tracking patient room cleaning to ensure timely reporting for patient flow.
- Report any required equipment repairs and ensure cleaning of equipment after use.
- Set up meeting spaces as per scheduling requests.
- Fulfill all duties associated with the Environmental Services Technician role.
- Move furniture as needed.
The employee must possess or acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to provide appropriate care and services, particularly in roles involving direct patient interaction.
Specifically, the employee should demonstrate competency in: 1) interpreting information in relation to patient needs; 2) understanding growth and development; and 3) recognizing the range of care required by patients.Competency Statement: Employees must demonstrate their abilities through initial training and ongoing validation to perform assigned tasks and additional responsibilities as outlined in the job description and competency checklist.
