Job Title: Raw Material Buyer

About the Role:

Pilgrim's is seeking a skilled Raw Material Buyer to join our Procurement team in Greeley, CO. As a key member of our team, you will assist the Raw Material Procurement Manager in securing raw materials to meet Prepared Foods production planning requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Scheduling Strategy: Develop and implement effective scheduling strategies to ensure raw material supply meets production requirements while optimizing costs.
  • Sourcing Issues: Take ownership of any sourcing issues that arise, including over or under delivery, and work to resolve them promptly.
  • Volume Requirements: Assess volume requirements against planning assumptions and provide feedback to drive change with counterparts in finished good planning and procurement.
  • Contingency Planning: Work closely with internal Raw Material planning team and external stakeholders to ensure contingency plans are in place, forecast, and facilitate on-time deliveries.
  • Process Improvement: Design, develop, and implement flexible solutions to aid business efficiency, drive process improvement, add value, overcome issues, and address operational risks.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement initiatives, projects, and new business developments.
  • Raw Material Purchasing: Ensure that professional and consistent raw material purchasing processes are applied across the business.
  • Payment Issues: Work with Accounting, AP, and Procurement team members to address any payment issues.
  • System Enhancement: Investigate and implement system enhancement initiatives.
  • Business Efficiency: Take ownership of ensuring business is left with minimum liability and minimal waste of raw materials.
  • Reporting: Ensure strategic and operational information, reports, and metrics are available to share as required.

Requirements:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in animal science, business administration, food science, or similar field strongly preferred.
  • Experience: 5-7 years of industry experience required.
  • Sales or Meat Sourcing Experience: Fresh sales or meat sourcing experience required.
  • Communication Skills: Strong communication skills and ability to develop positive relationships with suppliers.
  • Teamwork: Works well with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: High attention to detail and strong organization skills.
  • Technical Skills: Experience with Excel and SAP or other ERP system is strongly preferred.
  • Decision-Making: Comfortable making quick, accurate decisions and adapt to change well.
  • Travel: May be required to travel at some point to other facilities, attend Company events, or as a representative of the Company in other situations.

Benefits:

  • Benefits: Vision, Medical, and Dental coverage begin after 60 days of employment.
  • Paid Time Off: Sick leave, vacation, and 6 company observed holidays.
  • 401(k): Company match begins after the first year of service and follows the company vesting schedule.
  • Base Salary: $87,000-$100,000.
  • Incentive Pay: Eligible to participate in the Company's annual bonus plan, with varying amounts subject to standard terms and conditions.
