Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Access Coordinator to join our team at Maine Health. As a Patient Access Coordinator, you will be the initial point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service and ensuring a smooth and efficient registration process.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide accurate and complete patient registration, insurance verification, and medical necessity validation
  • Collect and process patient payments, including identifying and collecting amounts due
  • Enter orders and maintain accurate records
  • Assist with accommodations for patients with special needs
  • Ensure compliance with established protocols and accuracy standards
Requirements
  • High school graduate preferred
  • Previous clerical healthcare experience preferred
  • Previous customer service experience required
  • Ability to complete a formal medical terminology course and customer service training within 1 year
  • Knowledge of insurance plans and their requirements
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact with patients and others in a courteous and effective manner
  • Strong command of the English language and ability to speak and write clearly
Preferred Qualifications
  • Familiarity with medical terminology used in an individual physician practice setting
  • Knowledge of medical office procedures and insurance requirements
  • Customer service training
  • Ability to speak French
