EmPATH Nurse

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate EmPATH Nurse to join our team at the McNabb Center. As a key member of our crisis intervention team, you will provide direct medical care to clients in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Key Responsibilities- Perform initial admission nursing assessments and complete required paperwork, including nursing assessments, nursing notes, and nursing admission orders.
- Update medication tabs, allergy lists, and paper MARs as needed.
- Obtain urine drug screens, BALs, and pregnancy tests upon admission, and follow established protocols and guidelines for admission.
- Make determinations regarding appropriate admission protocols for each client, including agitation protocols, diabetic protocols, and hypertension protocols.
- Obtain admission orders from the prescriber on duty and complete charting for each client during every shift prior to the end of shift.
- Complete discharge paperwork and discuss medication and aftercare instructions with clients and/or family members.
- Count narcotics and document at every shift change, and notify supervisors immediately of any discrepancies.
- Obtain and chart vital signs on every shift, and monitor for significant changes in clients' conditions/behaviors every shift.
- Administer scheduled, routine, and PRN medications in a timely manner, and obtain blood sugars as ordered.
- Triage potential referrals with Mobile Crisis as needed, and complete C-SSRS on each client.
- Attend to guests' and/or clients' needs during medical emergencies, coordinate with Emergency Departments and EMS as necessary, and obtain prior authorizations.
- Participate in daily treatment team meetings, shift reports, and coordinate transitions with other staff members.
- RN or LPN with current Tennessee license and experience in psychiatric nursing preferred.
- BSN or ANA certification as Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse preferred.
- Sound knowledge of psychiatric medications, diagnoses, treatment modalities, and interventions.
- Experience in psychiatric nursing, working with special populations, and crisis settings preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification required (training provided).
- Ability to exercise sound judgment under pressure and remain awake and alert during entire shifts.
