Position Overview
This role is designed to fulfill the essential functions of a nursing professional, focusing on the assessment, planning, execution, and evaluation of patient care within an inpatient setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive, age-appropriate nursing care by utilizing advanced clinical knowledge and skills, ensuring the comfort and safety of patients and their families.
- Implement physician directives in the provision of nursing services.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and safeguard all information and records at all times.
- Comply with established infection control protocols, isolation procedures, and aseptic techniques in patient care delivery.
- Collect and analyze laboratory samples while adhering to established policies and regulations.
- Execute admission, discharge, and transfer protocols efficiently.
- Prepare necessary equipment and supplies for diagnostic or treatment procedures, assisting with various treatments as needed.
- Ensure care delivery aligns with legal, institutional, and departmental standards, as well as the nursing practice guidelines set forth by the state’s Board of Nursing.
- Identify critical changes in patient conditions and communicate these promptly to the relevant healthcare providers.
- Adapt to dynamic work environments effectively.
- Interpret clinical data, observations, and medical information to assess the needs of patients and their families.
- Exhibit advanced skills in patient monitoring and assessment, including but not limited to:
- Arterial Blood Gas collection and analysis
- BiPAP management
- Cardiac monitoring through 12-lead EKG
- Bedside cardiac monitoring
- Arrhythmia interpretation
- Medication preparation, mixing, and administration
- Medication titration based on patient status and physician orders
Additional Responsibilities
- Conduct quality assessment activities as assigned and maintain accurate documentation.
- Participate in staff meetings and other required company gatherings.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned by management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Nursing Diploma required.
- Active state licensure as a Registered Nurse with no sanctions.
- Minimum of two years of progressive experience in a high-acuity Medical Intensive Care Unit or equivalent critical care experience.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certifications required; Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
- Proficiency in English, both written and verbal, is required.
