KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Oversee the planning, execution, and management of all Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives at the facility.
2. Facilitate the training and implementation of BD Excellence (Lean) methodologies among associates.
3. Collaborate with other Functional Managers to ensure CI budgetary and project objectives are met on time.
4. Act as the primary Coordinator for the facility's Lean/Six Sigma initiatives.
5. Develop and execute a strategic plan aimed at enhancing the value streams of the primary manufacturing processes, ensuring optimization for efficiency and waste reduction (OEE).
6. In partnership with Plant and DS Engineering, plan, schedule, organize, and delegate CI project activities. Establish goals, set priorities, and manage project resources while reviewing progress and reporting outcomes to plant management.
7. Work with various departments to create a list of cost-saving projects. Lead multiple teams proactively towards achieving desired outcomes while prioritizing cost-saving initiatives.
8. Coordinate with R&D, Marketing, and Quality as necessary on CI projects to evaluate and enhance those processes, including the supervision of the ECO process for assigned projects.
9. Ensure compliance with regulations for CI projects by collaborating with relevant groups. Adhere to all local, state, federal, and BD safety regulations, including HCRA Hazardous Waste regulations. Align with BD's quality policies and practices through consistent application of sound quality assurance principles.
10. Provide supervisory oversight as assigned.
11. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Plant Manager.

JOB DIMENSIONS:

Formulate and implement remediation strategies for any identified savings gaps. Exhibit strong communication skills, fluency in interpreting and embodying BD values, ability to seek guidance, and knowledge of current and anticipated customer needs. Collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, Engineering/Facilities, Human Resources, Finance, and Product Support. Work autonomously with minimal supervision, demonstrating independent thought and execution. Success hinges on the ability to influence and manage change across all levels, working effectively across functions while leveraging the expertise of subject-matter experts within the DS and broader BDX organization.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field. A minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in technical and/or management roles within a manufacturing context. Proven experience in implementing and leading Continuous Improvement initiatives utilizing the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) methodology. Previous experience in an FDA-regulated (cGMP) environment or a similarly regulated industry. Certification or demonstrated expertise in lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies. Experience in developing manufacturing processes, writing procedures, and training manufacturing personnel. Familiarity with MRP, production, and logistics planning. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio). Strong interpersonal skills, conflict resolution, negotiation, and time management abilities. Excellent analytical and problem-solving capabilities. Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in cross-functional settings. Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Master's degree in Management, Engineering, or a related discipline. Knowledge and experience in high and low volume Medical Device manufacturing. Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly SAP. Experience in hazardous materials manufacturing.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Provide leadership, direction, and supervision for both non-exempt and exempt associates, including conducting performance evaluations.
