Nursing Assistant

At Stony Brook University, we are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant to join our team at the Long Island State Veterans Home. As a valued member of our care team, you will provide high-quality patient care and support to our residents, promoting a safe and comfortable environment.
Key Responsibilities- Attend to daily living activities, personal, hygienic, and simple human needs to maintain a comfortable atmosphere for residents.
- Move, position, lift, and transport residents using various lifts and aids to prepare them for treatment and deliver them to treatment facilities.
- Talk and listen to residents, responding by encouraging them to cooperate and participate in treatment activities.
- Transport residents and supplies as needed.
- Maintain residents' rights, dignity, and confidentiality.
- Perform housekeeping and cleaning duties related to direct care to ensure a clean, sanitary, and properly supplied environment.
- Participate in required quarterly in-service education to maintain certification and meet necessary requirements.
- NYS Nurse Aide Certification.
- One year of healthcare experience preferred.
- Excellent computer skills and written and verbal communication skills.
Working conditions may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and other unpleasant elements. May be exposed to and required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations.
