About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Department Chair of Accounting at Quinnipiac University. As a key member of the School of Business, the successful candidate will provide leadership and vision for the accounting department, fostering a student-centered environment and promoting excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction for the accounting department, aligning with the university's mission and goals.
  • Oversee the department's AACSB accreditation process and Assurance of Learning efforts, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards.
  • Manage the department's budget, staffing, and scheduling of courses, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Stay current with industry trends and developments in accounting, translating this knowledge into innovative departmental offerings and micro-credentials.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including alumni and the accounting community, to promote the department's programs and services.
  • Mentor, advise, and evaluate department faculty, promoting a culture of excellence and inclusivity.
  • Lead faculty recruitment and development efforts, including onboarding and mentoring of new and current faculty.
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses, as needed, and contribute to the development of active learning course content and engaging class activities.
  • Conduct research and publish high-quality journal articles, maintaining AACSB Scholarly Academic status.
  • Serve as the Master of Accounting (MSA) program director, overseeing program development and implementation.
  • Support student recruitment, mentoring, and retention, including through student advising and outreach activities.
Requirements
  • Ph.D. in accounting from an AACSB-accredited university or other relevant terminal degree.
  • Record of continuing academic excellence in scholarship and teaching, with a strong potential for departmental leadership.
  • Evidence of effective experience in higher education administration, with a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups.
  • Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CFP) is preferred.
  • Experience teaching at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, preferably in various modalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and management skills, with a demonstrated ability to engage in innovative teaching and service activities.
