Job Title: Registered Nurse School Year

Join our team of dedicated professionals at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD as a Registered Nurse School Year. As a school nurse, you will play a vital role in providing health services to students and supporting the overall well-being of our school community.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide emergency care for students who are ill or injured, using first aid procedures and obtaining necessary assistance when required.
  • Coordinate with Special Education to provide services to students with special needs, including one-on-one care as needed.
  • Provide daily care for students with medical problems, including carrying out or assisting with special procedures such as catheterization and tube feeding.
  • Conduct health appraisals, including height, weight, vision, hearing, spinal, and acanthosis nigricans screenings, as well as other health assessments deemed necessary.
  • Provide referrals and follow-up for identified health problems to ensure optimal health for each student.
  • Maintain accurate and complete health records on each student, including immunization records, health history, screening results, referrals, and follow-up information.
  • Adhere to the Texas immunization law, securing records on each student and updating as necessary on electronic medical records.
  • Control communicable diseases, excluding and re-admitting students as necessary, and notify the health department of all reportable diseases.
  • Dispense medication according to state law and district policy.
  • Promote health education in the clinic, classroom, and with teachers by providing support and resources to meet curriculum needs.
  • Make home visits as part of the assessment and follow-through process.
  • Provide health counseling for students with health problems, cooperating with principals, teachers, counselors, family physicians, and other agencies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited university preferred.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice nursing.
  • Two or more years of nursing experience preferred.
Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
