We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse to join our team at Cypress-Fairbanks ISD. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in providing health services to students and promoting a healthy and safe learning environment.
Responsibilities- Provide emergency care for students with illnesses or injuries, using first aid procedures and obtaining necessary assistance when required.
- Coordinate with Special Education to provide services to students with special needs, including one-on-one care as needed.
- Provide daily care for students with medical problems, including carrying out or assisting with special procedures such as catheterization and tube feeding.
- Conduct health appraisals, including height, weight, vision, hearing, and spinal screenings, as well as other health assessments deemed necessary.
- Provide referrals and follow-up for identified health problems to ensure optimal health for each student.
- Maintain accurate and complete health records for each student, including immunization records, health history, screening results, referrals, and follow-up information.
- Adhere to the Texas immunization law and update electronic medical records as necessary.
- Control communicable diseases, notify the health department of reportable diseases, and dispense medication according to state law and district policy.
- Promote health education in the clinic, classroom, and with teachers by providing support and resources to meet curriculum needs.
- Make home visits as part of the assessment and follow-through process.
- Provide health counseling for students with health problems, cooperating with principals, teachers, counselors, family physicians, and other agencies.
- Bachelor's degree or higher from a recognized, accredited university preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and licensed by the Texas Board of Nurse Examiners to practice nursing.
- Two or more years of nursing experience preferred.
Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
