JOB SUMMARY: The Environmental Field Specialist operates within the Marietta, Ohio office of KEMRON Environmental Services, Inc. This role involves leading project teams focused on environmental assessment and remediation initiatives across the United States. Experience in drilling, well installation, and soil and groundwater sampling is essential.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as the field lead for drilling and sampling initiatives, employing various methodologies such as HSA, direct-push, rotasonic, and low-flow groundwater sampling.
  • Document field logs for soil borings and groundwater monitoring well installations, adhering to standard soil classification and project-specific well construction standards.
  • Establish technical and regulatory requirements along with sampling strategies to fulfill state and federal regulations and project-specific goals, including permitting, planning, and execution of corrective measures.
  • Formulate technical strategies for geological and hydrogeological data collection and analysis for integration into Quality Assurance Project Plans.
  • Guide interdisciplinary project teams in delivering compliant and comprehensive quality field data collection efforts.
  • Exhibit strong technical writing capabilities to produce thorough and complex planning documents and reports.
  • Interpret geological and hydrogeological data and apply findings to devise regulatory and technical solutions under RCRA/CERCLA/State voluntary programs.
  • Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with senior project managers and clients regarding project challenges, progress, geological insights, and overall project outcomes.
  • Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and quality standards.

EDUCATION:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related geological science discipline is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with GIT or PG certification.

NECESSARY EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Access.
  • Experience in evaluating monitored natural attenuation and optimizing long-term monitoring networks, including techniques such as kriging and utilizing specialized software for geospatial analysis.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in subsurface geological and hydrogeological interpretation (including field logging and preparation of cross-sections).

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • Familiarity and experience with RCRA Corrective Action and CERCLA regulatory investigation, remediation, and performance monitoring and reporting programs is preferred.
  • A strong personal work ethic is essential;
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with small and large teams across various professional levels and disciplines is critical for success;
  • Well-developed organizational, communication, and analytical skills;
  • An analytical mindset coupled with problem-solving abilities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Must be capable of working at a computer for extended periods;
  • Must be able to work outdoors for prolonged periods in adverse weather conditions;
  • Must be able to traverse challenging terrain to access sampling locations and oversee field operations;
  • Must be able to safely operate a motor vehicle, including towing a trailer, to remote work sites;
  • Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.

This is a full-time salaried position reporting to our Marietta, Ohio office and will require attendance at periodic meetings in the office. Standard working hours are generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Project-specific needs may necessitate after-hours and weekend work, including travel.
