OverviewThe Children's Regional Hospital at Cooper University Hospital is a state-of-the-art pediatric facility that provides specialized care for patients aged 0 to 18 years. Our team of experts offers subspecialty services in areas such as Endocrinology, Genetics, Infectious Diseases, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Gastroenterology, Otolaryngology, Pediatric Surgery, Trauma, and Hematology.
We conduct daily family-centered rounds with an interdisciplinary care team, ensuring that our patients receive comprehensive and coordinated care. Our pediatric units are secured with restricted access, and our facilities include a teen room, a spacious playroom, and a family waiting room.
Job SummaryUnder the direction of a Registered Nurse (RN), the Pediatric Critical Care Technician assists with patients' activities of daily living and plan of care. This role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to maintain high standards of professional ethics.
Responsibilities- Supports the activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, feeding, toileting/hygiene, and assisting with mobility and transport.
- Performs technical duties as directed by RN, such as phlebotomy, vital signs, point of care testing, EKGs, Foley catheter care, and documents patient information.
- Identifies and communicates changes in patient status to RN and responds appropriately.
- Reinforces education of patient and family/responsible party regarding individual care needs and safety issues.
- Participates in Cooper patient satisfaction initiatives and goals.
- Assists in admission, transfers, and discharges of patients to and from the unit.
- 0-2 years of experience preferred.
- High School/GED required.
- Successful completion of an unlicensed healthcare provider/technician program.
- Completed at least one fundamental nursing course in an accredited RN program.
- AHA Basic Life Support certification required.
