As a Program Coordinator for the Student Opportunities for Achievement and Readiness (S.O.A.R.) Program, you will be responsible for developing and implementing innovative programming for High School juniors and seniors. This will include concentrations in areas such as Counseling, Social and Emotional Wellbeing, Life Skills, Healthy Relationships, College and Career Exploration.

You will also supervise part-time counselor advocates, provide them with ongoing feedback and support, and recruit program participants through classroom push-ins, attendance at school events, and referrals from school staff.

Additionally, you will perform intake assessments, evaluate immediate needs, and formulate a treatment plan with students. You will conduct individual and group counseling with students on a weekly basis, provide academic advisement, goal setting, and individualized educational planning.

You will also provide crisis counseling, conflict mediation, and social-emotional support, connect students and families with referrals for appropriate placements, community resources, and treatment facilities when necessary.

Furthermore, you will communicate with families, administration, and teachers about strategies to best support students at home and at school, and work with the Community School Director on school-wide initiatives to improve school culture and student engagement.

You will also observe and communicate with staff to provide consistent, ongoing supervision and guidance to ensure that staff upholds the policies set forth by Commonpoint and the New York City Department of Education (DOE).

Occasional evening and weekend events may be required, and you will ensure that all participant files are accurate and kept current with documents, assessments, treatment plans, case notes, and interventions.

You will also complete and maintain program data in tools provided by the funder (mid/end year reports) and the agency (weekly dashboard).

Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft Office software packages, Google Drive, local area networks, and efficient use of the Internet, is required.

A Master's degree in Social Work or Mental Health Counseling is required. LMSW is preferred, and SIFI certification is a plus.

At least three years of experience working with adolescents in an urban environment providing mental health counseling services that reduces barriers and facilitates educational success and social-emotional wellbeing is required.
