Key Features of This Role:

  • Nurse Practitioners (APRN) will provide direct lactation assistance and education to both patients and staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective services.
  • Advanced Practitioners are tasked with offering comprehensive, advanced, and specialized health services throughout the entire lactation journey of the patient.
  • This role involves collaboration with Maternity and Women's Health services.
  • Responsibilities encompass patient and staff education, consultations, and partnerships with healthcare resources within our organization and the broader community.
  • Facilitates the establishment of lactation through education and direct patient care during antepartum, intrapartum, and postpartum phases.
  • Evaluates breastfeeding challenges and collaborates with providers to develop individualized action plans for patients, adhering to hospital policies and protocols to ensure consistent information delivery.

Qualifications

  • Licensed or eligible for licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in Connecticut.
  • International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) certification.
  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Nurse-Midwifery Program.
  • 1-3 years of experience in Maternal Child Health or Family Practice.
