Chemical Synthesis and Analysis Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Chemical Synthesis and Analysis Engineer to join our multidisciplinary team at MIT Lincoln Laboratory. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing new means to synthesize, collect, analyze, process, and/or identify chemical materials.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design and execute experiments to synthesize and analyze chemical materials
  • Develop and implement new methods for chemical analysis and synthesis
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate chemical synthesis and analysis capabilities into our research projects
  • Conduct field work to collect data in real-world operational environments
  • Interact with end-user and collaborator organizations to understand their needs and requirements
Requirements:
  • B.A., B.S., or M.S. in chemistry, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or equivalent
  • Experience in the synthesis and characterization of organic and/or inorganic materials
  • Familiarity with common methods of chemical analysis (i.e., NMR, mass spectrometry, infrared spectroscopy, gas/liquid chromatography, etc.)
  • Direct experience in at least one of the above methods
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
