Job Overview

Position Title: Consumer Loan Processor

Department: Consumer Loan Division

Employment Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week, including some Saturdays)

Reporting To: Manager of Consumer Loan Division


Role Objective

The primary responsibility of this position is to ensure the accuracy of system-generated loan approvals. This role involves collaborating with Member Service Representatives to gather necessary documentation from members to facilitate loan funding, as well as any additional financial products accepted by the member. The processor will also engage with insurance providers to obtain lien details and verify adequate coverage. Timely completion of loan packets and necessary corrections is essential for each loan processed.


Key Responsibilities and Skills Required

  • Demonstrate exceptional member service skills aligned with Granite Credit Union's Core Values.
  • Assess loan applications for completeness, conducting auto checks, title reports, income verifications, and reviewing loan documents.
  • Evaluate system-generated approvals for accuracy regarding income and collateral, when applicable, to streamline the underwriting process.
  • Coordinate and manage loan closings, ensuring that all documentation is distributed to the relevant parties or members through preferred channels.
  • Confirm car insurance coverage, notify insurers of lien changes, and maintain accurate records.
  • Prepare loan documentation packets for review, emphasizing precision and promptness in documentation.
  • Stay updated on current trends in consumer lending.
  • Authorize the release of collateral on existing loans, manage changes in terms, payment extensions, and due date modifications, ensuring proper documentation and file maintenance.
  • Engage in sales development initiatives for loan products.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding all member information and transactions. Ensure a secure and organized work environment.
  • Exhibit professionalism and courtesy towards all individuals, including colleagues, members, management, board members, and external vendors.
  • Participate in required meetings.
  • Uphold a professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Possess basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Essential Knowledge

Familiarity with consumer lending laws and regulations is required.

Understanding of mortgage lending laws and regulations is preferred.

A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in consumer loan processing is advantageous.


Educational Requirements

A High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
