Position Responsibilities:
The Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist is tasked with executing intricate imaging and general radiology tasks. Compliance with National Patient Safety Goals is essential based on the level of patient interaction required for this role.

Key Duties:
The responsibilities of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting all body imaging and diagnostic procedures related to MRI.
  • Assisting in the calibration and quality control of imaging equipment.
  • Safely positioning and transferring patients as needed.
  • Supporting Radiologists during complex procedures.
  • Clearly explaining procedures to patients and addressing their inquiries.
  • Providing comprehensive Radiology support across various imaging modalities.
  • Administering radiographic contrast in accordance with physician requests and departmental protocols.
* Preparing for IV insertion as part of the scanning process, ensuring adherence to proper aseptic techniques.

Reporting Structure:
This position reports to the Lead CT/MRI Technologist and/or Operations Manager/Director.

Work Environment:


The role of the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Specialist involves moderate exposure to potential hazards, including risks of infections, radiation, and chemicals.

There is a possibility of injury from needle sticks and lifting. Universal safety precautions must be adhered to at all times. The position may involve exposure to interruptions, noise, and various chemicals.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Current certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
  • Certification in Magnetic Resonance Imaging from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required within the first year of employment.
  • Current CPR certification is required within 90 days of employment.
  • Proficiency in English communication (both verbal and written) is necessary.
