Estimator Job Description

A reputable heavy civil construction company is seeking a skilled Estimator to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing accurate and complete job estimates, ensuring that technical specifications and designs are feasible and consistent with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage project estimates, including labor, material, and time requirements.
  • Conduct site visits and attend pre-bid meetings to understand project scope and requirements.
  • Review and take-off of blueprints to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Solicit bids from subcontractors and gather pricing information.
  • Evaluate subcontractor bids to ensure that the full scope of work was considered.
  • Calculate costs of subcontract labor, general conditions, and materials.
  • Collaborate with clients to help them achieve their project cost budget.
Requirements:
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in estimating.
  • DOT, bridge, and/or heavy highway construction experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management or equivalent combination of education/experience.
  • Experience in conceptual, schematic design, design development, and construction document budgets and estimates.
  • Estimating software knowledge preferred, including HCSS Heavy Bid.
