Position Overview:

The Automotive Service Technician is tasked with executing vehicle repairs and maintenance as per the guidelines set by the dealership and manufacturer.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out tasks as detailed on the repair order with precision and efficiency, adhering to dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to procure necessary components, and communicate with the team leader regarding vehicles awaiting parts.
  • Diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs as authorized by the customer.
  • Inspect vehicles to identify any additional safety or service needs.
  • Promptly inform service consultants of any additional work required, unnecessary tasks, or delays in repairs.
  • Document all work performed on each vehicle in the repair order using the concern, cause, and correction format.
  • Conduct road tests to verify the quality of work completed.
  • Ensure customer vehicles are returned in a clean condition.
  • Maintain a tidy workshop and account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
  • Comply with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly regarding hazardous waste disposal.
  • Exhibit behaviors that align with the company's vision, mission, and values in all interactions.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Follow safety protocols to minimize exposure to fumes, dirt, and harsh chemicals.

Qualifications:
  • Must meet the company's employment criteria.
  • Ability to read and understand written instructions and information.
  • General mechanical skills are essential.
  • A valid driver's license is required.
  • Capability to operate manual transmission vehicles.
  • Professional appearance is expected.
  • Manual dexterity, sound judgment, and the ability to safely operate power and hand tools.
  • Preferred: Three years of experience as a service technician.
  • Demonstrated customer service abilities.
  • ASE certification is preferred.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
  • Ability to work in various weather conditions.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, stooping, and bending.
  • Ability to exert varying degrees of force to move objects.
  • Requires significant walking or standing, or sitting with the need to operate controls.

Education:
  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Technical aptitude demonstrated by ASE certification or successful completion of a pre-employment test.
  • A technical or trade school degree is preferred.
