Airway Disease Research Center Director Position

Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist and the Wake Forest University School of Medicine are seeking a visionary leader with a strong track record in clinical, translational, or health services research to lead the Airways Disease Research Center. As a key member of the Section on Pulmonary, Critical Care, Allergy and Immunologic Diseases, you will have the opportunity to expand our extramurally funded research, develop marquee clinical programs, and support the career development of research and clinical fellows and faculty.
About the PositionThe Airways Disease Research Center is a renowned institution with over 20 years of experience in defining disease phenotypes and endotypes, and developing personalized precision therapeutic interventions. Our team plays leading roles in six NIH-funded airway disease research networks, including four established longitudinal cohorts, and actively participates in industry-sponsored clinical trials. As the Director, you will be responsible for further developing the center, expanding our research focus, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and further develop the Airways Disease Research Center, expanding extramurally funded research and developing marquee clinical programs.
- Contribute to the expansion and development of clinical programs surrounding Airways Disease, working closely with the Section Chief and Respiratory Service Line Director.
- Support the career development of research and clinical fellows and faculty, serving as a mentor and role model.
- Enhance the Airways program to embrace the Academic Learning Healthcare System model, aligning with institutional research focus areas.
- Promote diversity and inclusion, fostering a supportive environment that enables faculty and staff to achieve their professional goals.
- National academic stature and a track record of scholarship and success in obtaining extramural funding.
- Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with a focus on team development and collaboration.
- Candidates should meet criteria for an appointment at the Associate Professor or Professor level.
- A focus in COPD (preferred) or asthma is desired, although focus in other pulmonary diseases will also be considered.
