About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Policy Project Coordinator to join our team at the American Academy of Actuaries. As a key member of our Public Policy department, you will play a vital role in supporting the Retirement Practice Council and its committees.

Key Responsibilities
  • Project Management: You will work closely with the Practice Council and related committees to identify and develop public policy work products, including comment letters, issue briefs, monographs, and presentation materials. Utilizing project management tools like Asana, you will create, track, report, and finalize work products for the Practice Council.
  • Collaborative Communication: You will serve as a liaison between internal staff, external stakeholders, and volunteers, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. This includes identifying and scheduling retirement-related webinars, promoting panels and speaking events, and building relationships with public policy decision-makers.
  • Policy Engagement: You will proactively identify and share public policy issues with the department and Practice Council, stimulating discussion and proposing future engagement through work product development, presentations, or other outreach. Additionally, you will collaborate with the Senior Retirement Fellow to support the Practice Council and engage with internal and external stakeholders to enhance and support the Academy's public policy mission.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: A college degree and a minimum of four years of professional experience are required. Project management experience is strongly preferred, with experience using Asana being a plus.
  • Skills and Abilities: You must have effective time management, project management, and organizational skills. Strong interpersonal communication, public speaking, writing, and editing skills are also essential. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and handle multiple tasks in a busy environment is required.
