Key Responsibilities


As a Senior Cardiac Catheterization Specialist, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance of the team in the catheterization lab, managing the schedule effectively, and liaising with the management team to optimize resource utilization.

You will also perform essential duties including circulating, scrubbing, and monitoring during invasive cardiology procedures.

It is crucial to possess a comprehensive understanding of all invasive procedures, the necessary equipment, and the indications for each procedure.

Your primary focus will be to ensure high-quality examinations and interventions while prioritizing patient safety and care.


Demonstrating strong organizational abilities is essential, including effective communication, time management, independent problem-solving, and fiscal oversight. You will help maintain a professional and patient-centered atmosphere within the department.


Staff Management


You will be responsible for managing staff assignments and room activities to enhance productivity. This includes coordinating staffing roles based on patient needs and staff capabilities.

You will provide recommendations for staffing adjustments and collaborate with other departments as necessary.

Operational Coordination


Working closely with the scheduling coordinator, managers, and other leaders, you will facilitate departmental efficiency. You will take proactive measures to minimize delays and communicate schedule updates promptly.


Equipment Operation


You will operate radiographic equipment while adhering to radiation safety protocols. Additionally, you will manage physiologic recording systems, demonstrating expertise in recognizing arrhythmias and interpreting waveforms.

  • Operate support equipment including injectors and monitors.
  • Develop cines as required by policy.
  • Identify and troubleshoot basic equipment issues, reporting unresolved problems to Biomedical Engineering.
  • Maintain a strong knowledge of cardiovascular diseases and interpret data to inform patient care decisions.

Efficiently manage your workload to maintain a steady pace, collaborating with team members to maximize departmental productivity. You will also perform additional duties as needed to support patient care and operational efficiency.


Anticipating Physician Needs


Being knowledgeable about the procedures performed and the necessary equipment will allow you to anticipate physician requirements effectively. You will prepare sterile trays and assist during procedures while adhering to sterile techniques. Additionally, you will help maintain an adequate supply of medications and materials in the lab.


Training and Development


You will play a key role in the training and education of new staff within the cardiac catheterization lab. Collaborating with educators, you will facilitate orientation and provide ongoing educational opportunities for all team members.


Qualifications

- Associate's Degree preferred
- Minimum of five (5) years of clinical experience in a healthcare setting
- Registered as a Radiologic Technologist (RTR), Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), or Cardiovascular Technologist (CVT)
- CPR/BLS certification
- Documented expertise in specialty training areas and skills checklist for at least two of the following: EP, interventional, scrub assist for AAA procedures, or radiographic/digital imaging techniques.
