Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Cardiac Catheterization Specialist operates various types of physiological monitoring equipment within the catheterization laboratory. This role includes assisting at the procedure table and operating radiographic equipment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Demonstrates comprehensive knowledge of policies and procedures, serving as a mentor and preceptor for new staff members.
2. Exhibits proficiency in diagnostic procedures and demonstrates competency in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterizations, including peripheral, neuro, and electrophysiological procedures.
3. Operates the physiological monitoring system for diagnostic and interventional studies, ensuring accurate data entry and documentation of patient information, events, and calculations of valve areas.
4. Maintains meticulous records of pressure measurements and logs of events, including medications and hemodynamic data.
5. Identifies and troubleshoots issues during procedures, reporting any unusual occurrences to the supervisor.
6. Assists physicians during procedures, particularly in critical situations, and is capable of taking scrub call independently.
7. Possesses knowledge of various stents and thrombectomy procedures, including their preparation and deployment.
8. Understands the principles of intravascular ultrasound and applies aseptic techniques to maintain a sterile environment during procedures.

Interpersonal Skills

1. Communicates effectively with colleagues, physicians, vendors, and visitors, reflecting the core values of Catholic Health Initiatives.
2. Collaborates with team members of diverse skill levels and training backgrounds.
3. Participates in special projects and assignments to enhance the operational efficiency of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory.

Qualifications

Education:
Associates Degree

Licensure and Certifications:
CVT or RT, or a combination of ACLS with demonstrated proficiency in scrubbing cardiac catheterization lab procedures; ACLS certification required.

Skills and Abilities:
Must be available for on-call duties and able to return to the facility within a specified timeframe.

Compensation:
$40.17 per hour
