Join Our Team as a Lead Marine Technician

About Us: The Society of Exploration Geophysicists is dedicated to advancing the science of geophysics and providing exceptional service in the marine industry.

Position Overview: We are looking for a talented and experienced Marine Technician to enhance our team. The successful candidate will have a robust background in marine engine repair, maintenance, and installations, coupled with a genuine enthusiasm for boating and meticulous attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues in marine engines and systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance, repairs, and upgrades on various types of watercraft, including outboard, inboard, and stern drive engines.
  • Perform complex mechanical repairs and installations, including Hamilton water jets and engines from manufacturers such as Yanmar, CAT, Volvo Penta, Cummins, or FPT.
  • Work on onboard plumbing systems and hydraulic system installations, including troubleshooting and repairs.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems is preferred.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in marine mechanics is preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience as a Marine Technician or in a similar role.
  • Proficient in diagnosing and repairing various marine engines and systems.
  • Strong knowledge of marine electrical systems, hydraulics, and fuel systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
  • Capable of installing complete mechanical systems.
  • Demonstrated drive and desire to meet or exceed project schedules and budgets without rework.
  • Ability to prepare condition reports on vessels, create accurate estimates, and manage projects to completion.
  • Work independently and may lead a small team to accomplish project goals.
