The Employment Development Department (EDD) is in search of dedicated and skilled professionals to enhance our cybersecurity risk management initiatives. The Risk Assessment Analyst (SRA) is a highly specialized security professional responsible for conducting focused risk evaluations, generating high-quality deliverables that adhere to security best practices. The SRA collaborates with system owners to strategize, schedule, and execute information technology penetration assessments, develop, update, and maintain system security frameworks, Risk Register Plans of Action, and Milestone documentation, as well as conduct security risk evaluations and prepare certification and accreditation packages.

The Risk Assessment Analyst will:

Implement IT risk management best practices, including threat modeling, penetration testing, and secure architecture principles, emphasizing secure-by-design methodologies to mitigate potential risks. Evaluate, advise, and consult on risk management matters, assessing the adequacy of security controls and detailing their application within the information system and technical environments. Research and document cybersecurity defense strategies, guidelines, hazards, and threats to proactively prepare for and avert risk incidents. Act as a team member conducting targeted risk assessments using penetration testing tools and methodologies, determining the effectiveness of controls and recommending configuration or design modifications and additional safeguards. Compile findings into comprehensive risk assessment reports, monitor risk items in the risk register, and develop corrective action plans and risk treatment strategies. Collaborate with system owners to formulate and sustain system security plans, preparing documentation for system certifications or recertifications and accreditation. Continuously evaluate security posture and work collaboratively with diverse multi-disciplinary teams. Provide expert consultation across various IT domains to ensure adherence to enterprise IT security policies, control agency mandates, and cybersecurity best practices. This position may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule, with telework determined by departmental discretion and subject to change based on business requirements. Employees are expected to report to their designated headquarters on assigned in-office days. Travel expenses incurred for commuting to the headquarters are the responsibility of the employee.
