Job Overview

POSITION SUMMARY

The Shooting Range Operations Supervisor is accountable for overseeing all activities related to range check-in. This role guarantees that patrons are efficiently checked in, complete necessary documentation, inspect ammunition, and provide rented firearms, eye protection, ear protection, and targets as required. This position liaises with the Range Safety Officer (RSO) and all relevant parties regarding the operational flow on the range. Exceptional customer service and sales acumen are central to this role.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

Achieve Results

  1. Continuously monitor all activities on the shooting lanes.
  2. Assist in the opening and closing procedures of the range, ensuring all areas are clean, sanitary, and compliant with regulations.
  3. Deliver outstanding customer service on the range and in retail, leveraging technology effectively at both the range and point of sale.
  4. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
  5. Ensure a positive customer experience while upholding strict firearms safety protocols and enforcing range rules and dress codes.
  6. Drive sales through rental programs, full-auto experiences, targets, and accessories.
  7. Oversee compliance and maintenance of rental firearms and full-auto firearms, collaborating with the Buyer on inventory needs.
  8. Train new staff on Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including proper care of rental firearms, cleaning and repairs, emergency protocols, and customer service standards.
  9. Encourage Event and Membership sales.
  10. Manage access to Gunsmith tools and maintain cleanliness in the shop.
  11. Coordinate with Special Events sales to ensure seamless execution of events, including preparation and inventory management.
  12. Oversee inventory and supplies at range check-in, including waivers, forms, ammunition, and targets.
  13. Monitor and manage range surveillance systems, collaborating with RSOs on maintenance and safety issues.
  14. Adhere to loss prevention protocols, ensuring accountability for all items used in events, classes, and gunsmithing.
  15. Prepare new shooters on fundamental gun safety and range regulations, communicating their status to the RSO on duty.

Operational Excellence

  1. Consistently adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) at all times.
  2. Assess conditions on the range continuously, making necessary adjustments.
  3. Instruct customers on the operation of lanes and targets.
  4. Be familiar with and follow emergency response plans at all times.
  5. Report daily to the General Manager and Assistant Store Manager regarding any operational concerns.
  6. Coordinate, develop, and implement the RCI schedule and monthly team meetings.

Relationships

  1. Foster collaborative and supportive relationships throughout the organization.
  2. Establish and maintain positive, effective relationships with key stakeholders, including external vendors and customers.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/KEY COMPETENCIES

  • Customer service-oriented with a strong emphasis on safety procedures.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Proficient in CPR and First Aid.
  • Skilled in safely handling firearms from shooters.

EDUCATION

A high school diploma is required, with college coursework preferred.

EXPERIENCE

Basic firearms training is essential. Knowledge and experience in firearms safety and operations are required. Experience with Point of Sale systems and/or retail operations is preferred.

OTHER

  • Willingness to work normal overtime and extended hours as needed.
  • Must be capable of physically auditing and inspecting all operations.
