Purpose and Responsibilities

The Laser Technology Manufacturing Engineer plays a critical role in leading edge laser drilling equipment, product process development, and driving capacity/capability solution paths. This position requires an advanced technical knowledge of laser systems and the ability to support existing processes, excursion root cause analysis, NCR dispositions, MES enhancements, and implementation of automated laser drilling process controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Partner with current process owners to learn the existing process recipe management system and automate manual processes.
  • Provide manufacturing files and instructions for new designs to ensure manufacturing readiness.
  • Establish quality controls, yield tracking, and tool health management to ensure laser drilling process capability.
  • Develop solutions for drilling within extremely tight tolerances and shape of guide plates.
  • Drive the coordination to set up maintenance of laser systems based on Key Performance Indicators (KPI's).
  • Maintain, update, and improve production work instructions and associated training and certification of production technicians.
  • Submit IT tasks and partner with web app developers to update and modify factory MES system interface to process equipment and automate recipe generation.
  • Support manufacturing engineering activities by recognizing, prioritizing, and acting on improvement opportunities.
  • Develop and implement solutions to meet new requirements of new laser processes.
Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a BS in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering and 5-7 years of experience in semiconductor or equivalent technology equipment engineering. The candidate should have demonstrated problem-solving skills, be able to work with limited supervision, and have a methodical approach to solving technical problems.

The candidate should also have experience with mechanical machined parts, CAD component and assembly drawings, and be able to use hierarchy BOM structure to determine parts required for equipment repair or upgrades. Additionally, the candidate should have solid computer skills on a variety of Windows versions or equipment interfaces and experience with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Excel Macros, AutoCAD, JMP, and MySQL.

The candidate should also have experience with Statistical Process Control and Design of Experiments, quality and continuous improvement methodologies such as Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA & pFMEA), Root-cause Analysis (RCA), and/or Lean Manufacturing, 5's, 8D, corrective actions.

Working Conditions

The position requires occasional sitting, standing, and working in a clean room environment for prolonged periods of time. The candidate should be able to work extended hours, including weekends, based on business requirements.

The pay range for this role is between $136,200 and $178,815. Benefits offered include medical, dental, vision, EAP, short-term and long-term disability, life insurance, flexible spending and savings accounts, 401(k), ESPP, and paid time off.
