Position Summary

The Senior Project Engineer will operate primarily on-site at construction projects, offering essential support to the project team to guarantee the quality and timely execution of design-build initiatives from inception to completion. Key responsibilities encompass scheduling, subcontractor procurement, cost management, subcontract preparation, owner coordination, construction quality oversight, and project closure. This role may also involve managing smaller projects independently, mentoring Project Engineers and Summer Construction Interns, and taking on additional responsibilities to transition into a Project Manager role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the project team and preconstruction services to develop a comprehensive Project Chart of Accounts.
  • Work alongside the Project Superintendent to create an effective project site logistics plan.
  • Assist the Superintendent in managing subcontractor activities.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the Clayco/Owner contract.
  • Oversee the processes for submittals, change orders, and payment requests.
  • Support the generation of project costs and Job Cost Reports.
  • Contribute to the analysis and forecasting of quarterly Total Cost Projection reports.
  • Monitor and document the training of all personnel involved in the project.
  • Track project labor requirements and report equipment needs.
  • Assist preconstruction services in the bidding process for projects.
  • Implement relevant safety, EEO, and Affirmative Action programs.
  • Engage in the project's quality assurance processes.
  • Support scheduling and project close-out activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 3-7 years of experience in managing construction projects valued at $5 million or more, preferably in a design-build context.
  • Proven knowledge of construction principles, practices, and technologies.
  • Experience leading a successful project management team.
  • Physical capability to navigate job sites, including climbing ladders and scaling multi-floor scaffolding.
  • Able to lift objects weighing at least 50 lbs.
