We are seeking a skilled Patient Care Technician to join our Mother/Baby Unit team at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital. As a Patient Care Technician, you will provide high-quality patient care to an assigned group of patients, working closely with our licensed Registered Nurses to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Implement patient care plans as directed by the RN, reporting information and findings to the RN and offering suggestions for revision as needed.
- Provide direct bedside care to patients, including performing activities of daily living, bathing, skin care, toileting, mouth care, feeding, and range of motion.
- Assist with ambulation, mobilization, and rehabilitation, as well as transporting patients in wheelchairs and stretchers.
- Perform routine sterile and non-sterile treatments, including tube feedings, ostomy care, Foley catheter care, IV insertion/monitoring/care, and wound care.
- Participate in patient/family teaching as directed and maintain accurate records and documentation.
- Contribute to a safe and orderly patient/unit environment and participate in quality improvement initiatives.
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Successful completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant Program (CNA) or equivalent experience
- 1-2 years' experience as a certified nursing assistant or related healthcare experience in acute care
