About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Feed Mill Operations Manager to join our team at Seaboard Foods. As an Assistant Feed Mill Manager, you will play a critical role in the daily operations of our feed mill department, supervising production employees and overseeing the production, quality, costs, and safety of the mill.

Key Responsibilities
  • Production Supervision: Determine work assignments and establish or adjust work procedures to meet plant or production schedules.
  • Quality Control: Oversee procedures to verify conformance to high standards of quality as established by current Good Manufacturing Practices for the industry.
  • Feed Mill Operations: Learn and understand the flow of all materials, incoming and outgoing, and the standard operating procedures of all areas of the Feed Mill. Must be able to operate all areas of the feed mill and completely understand automation systems.
  • Inventory Management: Review all daily usage and inventory; investigate and correct all discrepancies.
  • Process Improvement: Recommend measures to improve mill and transportation production methods, equipment performance, and quality of service and carry out any needed corrective action.
  • Employee Training and Development: Train new employees: plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; discipline of employees as needed; address complaints and resolve problems promptly.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Timely and accurately document and follow up on any employee or operating issues.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Maintain collaborative working relationships with supervisors, peers, subordinates, internal and external customers.
  • Reporting and Delegation: Prepare various reports and delegate appropriate duties to subordinate employees.

Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • High School or GED: A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Automation Experience: Ability to understand automation systems, including mechanical and electrical experience.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Technical Skills: Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office Suite products such as Word, Excel, etc.
  • Public Speaking: Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications

We prefer candidates with:

  • Feed Science Degree: A degree in Feed Science is preferred.
  • Experience: Four or more years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Feed Dust Exposure: The employee is frequently exposed to feed dust.
  • Lifting and Moving: The employee must regularly lift and move up to 50 pounds, occasionally lift and up to 100 pounds, and sometimes push and/or move up to 300 pounds.
  • Visual Requirements: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
