Job Summary

Somic Packaging, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Field Service Technician to join our team. As a Field Service Technician, you will be responsible for the safe, proper, and efficient installation, commissioning, and/or service of Somic machinery at customer facilities and in-house, ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with mechatronics, electrical controls, and mechanical systems
  • Set and fine-tune parameters according to customer specifications and arrangements
  • Understand mechanical movements, timing, and positioning, and know how adjustments impact other areas and functions of the machine
  • Provide detailed documentation, including daily reports and weekly service reports
  • Complete preventive maintenance, maintenance, and repair work at customer locations
  • Serve as Project Manager and Tech Support while on-site during installations
  • Communicate effectively with customers on-site and provide administrative tasks as needed
  • Train customer personnel on-site and ensure customer satisfaction of all services provided
  • Perform equipment performance analysis and recommendations for improvements
  • Adhere to safe working habits and maintain a professional representation of Somic Packaging, Inc. with current and potential customers
  • Perform PLC, HMI programming, and logic adjustments in conjunction with Engineering
Requirements
  • Completed Technical Degree from a 2- or 4-year program in Mechatronics, Industrial Automation Technology, Robotics, Electronics, or comparable
  • Automated case packaging experience is a must
  • 3+ years of experience in the installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of complex machines and systems
  • Knowledge of electrical engineering, control technology, pneumatics, and mechanics
  • Functional knowledge of PLCs with ability to troubleshoot and resolve minor issues
  • Safe, structured, and reliable work approach, entrepreneurial mindset
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work independently, with a confident manner
  • Professional appearance and strong communication skills
  • Able to work under pressure and be flexible
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must have a valid class D driver's license and US Passport required
  • Must be self-motivated with a positive, can-do attitude
