Purpose of Position:

The Coordinator of Volunteer Services plays a crucial role within a vibrant team, tasked with the recruitment and training of new volunteers and academic interns. This position involves maintaining a comprehensive database of volunteer profiles and skills, aligning volunteers with suitable opportunities, keeping them informed, and effectively communicating the mission of Girls Inc. to the community. The Coordinator will represent the Volunteer Services Department and work collaboratively to fulfill the organization's mission and objectives alongside program and development staff.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Recruitment and Training of Volunteers/Academic Interns (60% of time)

· Develop and implement a year-round strategy for recruiting volunteers and academic interns to ensure adequate support for all programs and organizational needs.

· Oversee the selection, interviewing, and screening processes for all volunteer and academic internship candidates.

· Facilitate both virtual and in-person training sessions throughout the year for all volunteers and academic interns.

· Provide supervision, conduct site visits, and evaluate the performance of all volunteers and academic interns.

· Monitor and track feedback from new and active volunteers/academic interns to address concerns and enhance satisfaction.

· Engage with community organizations, corporate partners, and prospective groups to maintain a positive community presence.

· Manage and execute a comprehensive recognition program to appreciate the contributions of volunteers and academic interns.

Database Management, Administration & Communication (40% of time)

· Act as a liaison between administration, staff, and volunteers/academic interns.

· Collaborate with development staff and program departments to identify needs for diverse volunteer and academic internship placements.

· Utilize volunteer management software to maintain accurate records and ensure all necessary documentation, including background checks, is current.

· Use online platforms for volunteer background screenings.

· Create and format various documents such as reports, charts, flyers, presentations, and graphics that align with the organization's branding.

· Promote volunteer opportunities through various channels, including the organization's website, public speaking engagements, and outreach events.

· Ensure timely submission of departmental reports, evaluations, and annual volunteer data.

· Assist with organization-wide meetings, social events, and special initiatives as needed, particularly those focused on mentorship, college readiness, workforce development, and community drives.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

· At least two years of experience in managing volunteers or community outreach.

· Direct experience working with both adults and youth.

· Strong oral and written communication skills, including public speaking abilities.

· Excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills.

· Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database management software.

· A collaborative, team-oriented work style with the ability to work independently.

· Attention to detail and accuracy.

· Understanding of diverse community stakeholders.

· Proven success in partnerships with community organizations and corporate entities.

· Initiative in identifying needs and developing solutions.

· Commitment to high ethical standards in a diverse work environment.

· Must pass a background check, possess reliable transportation with insurance, and hold a valid driver's license.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a professional office setting. The role typically involves the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.

The physical demands of this position require the ability to stand for extended periods, walk, reach, stoop, talk, and hear.

Employees may need to lift and/or move up to 25 lbs.

Compensation and Benefits:

· Competitive salary based on qualifications and experience.

· Salary range of $23-$26/hour.
