About the Role

The AI & Experiences Organization is in search of a Distinguished Scientist to propel Zillow's mission forward by spearheading science-driven projects that enhance user experiences. This is an expanding domain, and we aim to integrate a curious and insightful scientist to sustain momentum in this area. Our team comprises applied scientists, engineers, and designers dedicated to developing algorithms for spatial understanding and deep learning models that enrich immersive media experiences for prospective buyers and renters.

In your role as a Distinguished Scientist, you will be instrumental in generating new science-based business prospects, optimizing the productivity and effectiveness of our technical and research initiatives, and positioning our scientists and engineers for success within both the organization and the broader research community. You will be encouraged to challenge conventional wisdom and expectations, not only by leveraging existing resources but also by proposing innovative ideas that drive creativity and advancement. Our solutions process extensive datasets (including imagery and metadata) to craft engaging and immersive experiences.

Who You Are

As a Distinguished Scientist, you are a forward-thinking innovator in machine learning with a proven history of breakthroughs. You possess a solid foundation in computer vision principles and, when necessary, are an applied scientist who is hands-on and results-oriented. We are seeking candidates who have:

  • A Ph.D. in Computer Science, Engineering, Machine Learning, Computer Vision, or a related field
  • A robust background in computer vision research, including model and algorithm development
  • Knowledge of 2D/3D geometry and experience addressing geometrical challenges within modern differentiable frameworks like PyTorch and TensorFlow
  • An impressive publication record and a willingness to share insights gained from your research
  • Practical expertise in deep learning methodologies
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with peers and leaders across a large organization to foster new technological advancements
  • Determination to tackle ambitious challenges
  • The ability to mentor both senior and junior applied scientists effectively
