Position Overview

ROLE SUMMARY

This position holds a critical enterprise-wide role in developing and executing strategic sourcing initiatives for a designated category of expenditure. The role emphasizes building robust, client-focused relationships while aligning with organizational strategies and objectives. The incumbent will function as a strategic partner, engaging with senior leadership to provide guidance on category strategy, sourcing, and procurement processes including supplier relationship management, spend performance analysis, compliance management, and market research.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Spearhead the formulation and execution of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned categories, overseeing the development of RFx documentation, detailed proposal evaluations, negotiations, and supplier selection. Organize, schedule, and oversee category sourcing projects, ensuring optimal resource allocation and timely project completion; maintain rigorous project management standards. Utilize key performance indicators to pinpoint areas for improvement and embrace innovative business models with a proactive mindset to enhance best practices. Collaborate strategically with business unit leaders, offering procurement insights and fostering partnerships to identify purchasing opportunities. Advise internal leaders on procurement processes, technological capabilities, and policies to streamline the procurement lifecycle. Cultivate and manage relationships with key business executives, serving as an integral member of the leadership team to drive business strategies through advanced procurement initiatives. Exhibit a strategic mindset, organizational acumen, and the ability to balance diverse stakeholder interests effectively. Under the guidance of Procurement leadership, develop and implement long-term category strategies to meet enterprise-wide needs and maximize lifecycle value while adapting to market shifts. Monitor the ongoing performance of strategy implementations, ensuring that significant issues, risks, and opportunities are escalated appropriately. Lead the negotiation and development of contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing agreements to achieve optimal cost savings. Conduct thorough analyses of category spending, supplier segmentation, and market research. Uphold ethical procurement practices, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable regulations. Develop deep expertise in assigned categories and leverage insights to proactively identify procurement opportunities through data analysis and industry knowledge. Perform additional duties as required.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Required

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent experience as determined by the organization.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required

Minimum of 5 years in a procurement role. At least 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing. Proven experience in consulting with business leaders on strategic sourcing and supplier management. Experience in Indirect Category Sourcing or Health Care Sourcing with a track record of influencing business strategy.

PREFERRED

Advanced skills in procurement contract negotiation and spend analysis. Experience in project planning and management. Prior experience managing diverse stakeholder expectations. Experience in process improvement initiatives.

Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) or Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).

SKILLS

Strong strategic management and problem-solving capabilities. Ability to translate overarching goals into actionable plans. Comprehensive knowledge in key procurement areas including Category Management and Supplier Risk Management. Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse environments. Proven ability to exercise sound judgment in complex organizational structures. Experience collaborating with senior executives and managing cross-functional teams. Strong analytical and financial acumen. Advanced negotiation skills. Ability to manage cost performance and forecast supply/demand dynamics. Capacity to handle multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
