Role Summary

The Triage Nurse embodies the core values and mission of Northwestern Memorial, adhering to the organization's ethical standards and compliance protocols. This role is crucial in delivering expert triage services within a medical practice.

Key Responsibilities
  • Serve as a patient advocate, establishing a positive rapport with patients and their families.
  • Manage and prioritize incoming calls and electronic communications, ensuring effective resolution and communication with healthcare providers.
  • Document all patient interactions in the electronic medical record system.
  • Coordinate patient appointments based on clinical assessments.
  • Facilitate referrals to specialists within the Northwestern Medicine network.
  • Oversee emergency transfers and related documentation.
  • Administer medications and treatments in accordance with established nursing standards.
  • Provide educational support to patients and clinical staff regarding various health issues.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff members.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Support the management of abdominal post-transplant patients, focusing on their transition to local healthcare providers.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in a clinical setting.
  • Current Registered Nurse License in the State of Illinois.
  • CPR certification.

Preferred:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Specialty certification.
  • Five or more years of experience in a clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in Spanish.
