GENERAL JOB OVERVIEW
A triage nurse plays a critical role in the healthcare system, acting as the initial point of contact for patients in need of urgent care. This professional assesses the condition of patients and determines the appropriate level of medical attention required based on the urgency of their health issues.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct thorough physical assessments of patients to evaluate their health status.
- Analyze patients' medical histories to identify symptoms and the severity of their conditions, formulating a comprehensive care plan.
- Prioritize patient care by directing individuals to the necessary medical services based on their needs.
- Guide patients through the healthcare facility to ensure they receive timely treatment.
- Continuously monitor patients awaiting care, reassessing their conditions as necessary.
- Provide immediate care for patients with critical conditions until further medical assistance is available.
- Coordinate patient care services by collaborating with various healthcare departments and transport services.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient conditions, treatments administered, and medications prescribed.
- Effectively communicate with patients, their families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans and next steps.
- Assess patients requiring urgent medical intervention and advise on the appropriate course of action.
- Recommend options for emergency treatment, consultations, or self-care as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Must possess a valid Registered Nurse license.
Experience: A minimum of 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, particularly with youth from diverse backgrounds.
Additional Skills: Must demonstrate cultural sensitivity and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse families and professionals. A positive attitude in high-pressure situations is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and online database management is required. Fluency in Spanish is mandatory.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: A medical statement confirming good health is required every two years throughout employment.
