Job Description: As a Behavioral Health RN, you will be responsible for performing initial nursing evaluations, observing and evaluating patient physical and mental status, and maintaining awareness for indicators in patients' behavior that call for change in treatment modality. You will also instruct patients and caregivers on cognitive and technical aspects of care, medication regimes, disease processes, safety interventions, ADL care, coping skills, symptom management, and other interventions.
Responsibilities:
- Perform initial nursing evaluation, including behavioral health/psychiatric nursing needs.
- Observe and evaluate patient physical and mental status for complications and medication side effects.
- Maintain awareness for indicators in patient behavior that call for change in treatment modality.
- Instruct patient/caregiver on cognitive and technical aspects of care.
- Administer IM medications, perform lab draws and specimen collections.
- Act as case manager in coordinating care for patients as assigned.
- Complete documentation timely and accurately.
- Supervise LPNs and HHAs.
- Regularly communicate patient progress to clinical manager, psychiatrist, and care team.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Current RN license specific to state(s) you are assigned to work.
- Must have one of the following to meet CMS requirements for psychiatric nursing in the home care setting:
- RN with master's degree in mental health nursing or psychiatric specialty.
- RN with bachelor's degree in nursing.
- RN with diploma or associate's degree in nursing.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.

Salary: Estimated annual salary for this position is $65,000 - $85,000, depending on experience and qualifications. This estimate is based on national averages for similar positions in the United States.
