Senior Building Maintenance Specialist

The Senior Building Maintenance Worker operates under the guidance of the Carpenter Shop Supervisor, executing a variety of minor renovations, fundamental construction tasks, and maintenance duties across multiple Structural Trades departments including Carpentry, Lock, Paint, and Sign Shops as directed.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Construction Maintenance (80%):
- Execute minor renovations and construction involving walls, windows, floors, ceilings, and roofs.
- Assist carpenters in dismantling existing structures.
- Perform rough and finishing work for new constructions.
- Conduct basic mathematical calculations for measurements and time-keeping.
- Hang both metal and wooden doors.
- Engage in minor concrete forming and pouring.
- Aid in preventative maintenance inspections and repairs.
2. Maintenance & Repairs (10%):
- Maintain and repair campus structures, including patching walls and roofs, and replacing doors and windows.
- Conduct minor tasks in the Lock Shop such as key cutting and door hardware maintenance.
- Support the Sign Shop with installation and maintenance of signage.
- Assist the Paint Shop with graffiti removal and other maintenance tasks.
3. Shop Work (10%):
- Utilize power tools and shop equipment safely under supervision to perform millwork.
- Inspect and repair shop tools and equipment as necessary.
- Collaborate with other trade personnel as required.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in reading, writing, and following both oral and written instructions, with basic mathematical skills for maintenance tasks.
- Demonstrated creativity and initiative in work.
- Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the campus community.
- Ability to work in busy environments without causing disruption.
- Capable of documenting daily tasks performed.
- Valid driver's license required.
Preferred Skills:
- Basic computer proficiency including email and word processing.
- Willingness to learn the Enterprise Asset Management System Software for work order tracking.
Special Conditions:
- Successful candidates must pass a pre-employment background check.
- Ability to lift materials weighing up to 100 lbs and move construction materials as needed.
- Flexibility to work overtime and respond to emergencies as required.

All employees are expected to adhere to safety protocols, attend mandatory training, and report any accidents or potential hazards promptly.
