POSITION SUMMARY

This role encompasses comprehensive responsibilities for establishing and advancing strategic sourcing initiatives for a designated category of expenditure while fostering robust client-focused relationships that align with organizational strategies and objectives. The individual will serve as a strategic collaborator, engaging with senior leadership, including VPs and Directors, to provide guidance in the specified spend category, overseeing category strategy, strategic sourcing, and various procurement processes such as supplier relationship management, spend performance oversight, demand and compliance management, and category governance.

Collaboration with key stakeholders is essential for the formulation and execution of annual and multi-year category strategies aimed at fulfilling category objectives, supporting business strategies, and delivering sustainable value across categories. This position carries significant financial and enterprise risk management responsibilities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct the development and execution of sourcing and demand management strategies for assigned expenditure categories, including the creation of RFx materials, thorough analysis of proposals and vendor capabilities, negotiations, and supplier selection.
  • Organize, schedule, and oversee category sourcing initiatives, ensuring effective resource allocation and timely project delivery; apply rigorous project management techniques.
  • Utilize key performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and adopt innovative business models with a proactive mindset to implement best practices.
  • Strategically partner with business unit leaders, contributing procurement expertise to client strategies and identifying purchasing opportunities.
  • Advise internal business unit leaders on procurement processes, technological capabilities, and policies to enhance the procurement lifecycle.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key business executives, acting as an integral member of the business unit leadership team to support the implementation of business strategies through advanced procurement initiatives.
  • Exhibit a strategic business perspective, organizational acumen, and the ability to balance multiple stakeholder interests effectively.
  • Under the guidance of Procurement leadership, formulate and implement long-term category strategies that anticipate enterprise-wide needs and maximize lifecycle value while adapting to shifts in supply markets and industry trends.
  • Monitor the ongoing performance of strategy implementations, ensuring that key issues, risks, and opportunities are communicated to the appropriate levels.
  • Lead the negotiation and development of contracts with new suppliers and/or renegotiate existing contracts to achieve optimal cost and savings objectives.
  • Conduct analyses of category spending and reporting, supplier stratification, and research on supply markets and industry categories.
  • Uphold ethical procurement practices in the acquisition of goods and services, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and applicable regulations.
  • Develop deep expertise in assigned categories and leverage this knowledge to proactively identify procurement opportunities through data analysis and industry insights.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Supply Chain Management, Administration/Management, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Marketing, or Industrial Engineering, or four years of relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory

  • 5 years of experience in a procurement capacity.
  • 3 years of experience in strategic sourcing.
  • Experience in consulting with business leaders, strategic sourcing, and managing supplier relationships and performance.
  • Experience in Indirect Category Sourcing and/or Health Care Sourcing with proven expertise in influencing business strategy and shaping procurement direction.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Advanced experience in procurement contract negotiation, competitive price analysis, procurement technology, contract management, and spend analysis.
  • Experience in project planning and management.
  • Prior experience managing diverse stakeholder interests and expectations.
  • Experience with process redesign and improvement.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM).
  • Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM).

SKILLS REQUIRED

  • Experience in strategic management and problem-solving.
  • Ability to translate overarching strategies into actionable implementations and achieve results.
  • Working knowledge in key procurement functional areas such as Category Management, Strategy Development, Contract Negotiation, Supplier and Risk Management, and Supplier Diversity.
  • Exceptional interpersonal, consultative, influencing, presentation, and communication skills; ability to work effectively in diverse environments while adhering to the highest ethical standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment in complex, matrixed environments.
  • Proven success in collaborating with VP-level executives and navigating matrix organizations.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex topics clearly to various audiences.
  • Strong analytical, financial, and P&L management skills.
  • Advanced negotiation skills and relevant experience.
  • Ability to manage cost performance and supply/demand forecasting.
  • Capacity to multitask in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Range Minimum:

$67,500.00

Pay Range Maximum:

$124,800.00

Base pay is determined by various factors including qualifications, experience, and expected contributions, as well as internal equity, market conditions, and business considerations.
