Technical Support Specialist - Part-time

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Technical Support Specialist to join our team on a part-time basis in Washington, DC. As a Technical Support Specialist, you will be responsible for providing technical assistance to end-users, configuring and maintaining workstations, servers, and network infrastructure, and troubleshooting technical issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Configure, maintain, monitor, and support workstations, servers, and network infrastructure
  • Install, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot Windows systems and peripherals
  • Analyze, diagnose, and resolve end-users' technical problems and recommend corrective hardware and/or software solutions
  • Receive and respond to incoming tickets, documenting all steps taken to resolve issues in a timely and thorough manner
  • Accurately document instances of hardware and software failure, repair, installation, and removal, including root cause investigation
  • Recommend, schedule, and perform server OS improvements, upgrades, and repairs
  • Support development and implementation of new server projects and new hardware installations
  • Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs
  • Liaise with third-party support and server equipment vendors as needed
  • Aid in the development of business continuity and disaster recovery plans, maintain current knowledge of plan executables, and respond to crises in accordance with business continuity and disaster recovery plans
  • Provide guidance to junior members of the team as required
Requirements:
  • Working knowledge of Windows and user workstations
  • Familiarity with TCP/IP network protocols, firewall management, and security solutions
  • Working technical knowledge of infrastructure and supporting technologies such as SAN or NAS storage, Active Directory/Global Catalog
  • Knowledgeable of backup/restore solutions and anti-virus solutions
  • Must be within driving or walking distance of Washington, DC and willing to work onsite
  • Must be willing to work part-time
