Senior Virology Research Scientist

Position Overview
Commonwealth Sciences, Inc. is seeking a highly skilled Associate Scientist-Virology to join our team in Rochester, MN.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and execute in vitro virology experiments with minimal supervision.
- Develop and clone viral vectors independently.
- Generate engineered cell lines using genetic editing strategies in mammalian cell lines via lentiviral vectors, CRISPR, or other novel editing platforms.
- Collaborate with team members to advance cross-functional scientific projects and standardize adoption of new techniques.
- Conduct experimental research under minimal supervision, with close collaboration with the scientific team.
Requirements
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Molecular/Cellular Biology, Virology, Biochemistry, or related field.
- Minimum two years (Master's degree) or four years (Bachelor's degree) laboratory experience, including at least one year performing research.
- Proficiency in cloning and experience with CRISPR for gene editing.
- Experience with eukaryotic cell culture.
- Ability to plan, organize, and multi-task to complete assignments efficiently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent attention to detail and organization.
Preferred Skills
- Flow cytometry, fluorescent microscopy, suspension cell culture, lentivirus generation, SDS-PAGE and western blot, viral titering by TCID50, cell-based assays, ELISA, affinity chromatography, complement assays, Prism software.
