Job Description

Key Responsibilities

  4. Operate within company policies, procedures, and standards.
  5. Work a flexible schedule to meet the needs of the store.
  6. Prioritize tasks, maintain attention to detail, and ensure accuracy.
  7. Develop excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  8. Learn and utilize computer applications to enhance customer service.
  9. Meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years.
Essential Functions
  1. Exceed customer expectations by providing world-class customer service and a pleasant shopping experience.
  2. Represent Big Y by working collaboratively with fellow employees to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
  3. Oversee and direct the workflow of customer service employees.
  4. Operate a register as needed, handling and securing all monies, funds, and other media accurately.
  5. Facilitate an engaged environment within the self-checkout area.
  6. Assist the Front End team in achieving operations and sales objectives, including contribution, budget, gross profit, productivity, inventory management, merchandising, and promotions.
  7. Operate, clean, and maintain equipment, machinery, tools, and workstations.
  8. Collaborate with management in decision-making, direction, and implementation of operational and customer service goals.
  9. Provide technical support through basic problem-solving, including reboots, paper and currency jams, product look-up, and EFT freezes.
  10. Identify potential theft and suspicious transactions at all checkouts.
  11. Engage in and encourage continuous improvement through ideas and innovation.
  12. Adhere to and enforce all government employment and labor regulations, as well as company policies and procedures.

  15. Perform myExpress Checkout bag checks and monitor transactions periodically.
  16. Bag groceries, retrieve carriages, return back-stock, and perform other tasks as needed.
