About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant Department Manager to join our team at Barnes & Noble College. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of our store, providing exceptional customer service, and driving sales growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the daily operation of the store, including managing inventory, processing sales transactions, and maintaining a clean and organized store environment.
  • Provide outstanding customer service, responding to customer inquiries, and resolving any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the management team in achieving sales goals, analyzing sales data, and implementing strategies to drive growth.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to achieve team goals, share knowledge, and provide support as needed.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all departments in the store, including books, technology, and school supplies.

Requirements:

  • 2+ years of experience in a retail setting, preferably in a management or buyer role.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in business or related field preferred.
  • Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to respond to customer inquiries and resolve issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Basic reading, writing, and accounting skills required.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
