Bering Straits Native Corporation is in search of dedicated full-time Athletic Performance Specialists to support the Air Force. These specialists will be integral members of a comprehensive team of human performance experts dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of military personnel. The role involves preparing Air Force pilots to meet the rigorous physical demands associated with aviation operations.
Key Responsibilities
The following duties outline the essential functions of this position, though additional responsibilities may be assigned:
- Exhibit a consistent and effective coaching demeanor.
- Identify performance indicators and common movement deficiencies.
- Deliver precise tactile, verbal, and visual feedback.
- Maintain personal fitness and exemplify quality movement standards.
- Instruct and demonstrate foundational principles of strength and conditioning.
- Conduct assessments related to strength and conditioning.
- Design and revise training programs and educational content.
- Facilitate traditional classroom instruction on health, fitness, and physical performance topics.
- Leverage human performance technology to enhance programming and evaluate athletic performance.
- Assess and provide written evaluations on emerging technologies.
- Foster relationships with trainees and inspire them to reach higher performance levels.
- Act as a collaborative team member and effective leader.
- Engage in regular staff training, scheduling, and meetings to support program objectives.
- Adapt to frequent changes, interruptions, and diverse environmental conditions.
- Exhibit strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with leadership and organizational abilities.
- Adhere to and implement designated training and safety protocols.
- Maintain all necessary professional credentials and licenses.
Qualifications
To successfully fulfill this role, candidates must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in an accredited field related to exercise science, health science, or physical education.
- Current certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
- Experience in developing performance programs for elite athletes, including collegiate, Olympic, or tactical professionals.
- A minimum of two years of experience in strength and conditioning for tactical, collegiate, or professional athletes.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for Healthcare Providers, including Automated External Defibrillator (AED) training.
- U.S. citizenship.
- Proficient in English communication with military personnel and staff.
- Ability to obtain and maintain Tier 1 security clearance.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and cultural sensitivity to engage with diverse military personnel.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master's Degree in Health and Exercise Science, Kinesiology, or a related discipline.
- Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) certification.
- NSCA Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator (TSAC-F) certification.
- Certification in Functional Range Systems FRCms or Kinstretch.
- CrossFit Level 2 or higher certification.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel.
- Experience navigating and utilizing SharePoint sites.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The physical demands of this position require maintaining a high level of mental alertness. Candidates must be capable of performing essential functions, which may include bending, stooping, sitting, walking, or standing, and lifting weights up to 45 pounds.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This role is primarily conducted in a gym environment, with exposure to various fitness equipment and the necessity of computer usage. Occasional travel may be required.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
As a condition of employment, candidates must successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening and pass a background check. Reliable transportation is essential, and access to military installations may be required.
