Job Title: HFC Engineer

At Olsson, we're committed to improving communities through sustainable, connected, and efficient solutions. As an HFC Engineer on our Telecommunications team, you'll play a crucial role in designing and optimizing Hybrid Fiber-Coaxial (HFC) networks to deliver high-speed broadband services.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Create network architectures that integrate fiber and coaxial components to meet performance and reliability standards.
  • Analyze and interpret large datasets to determine serving boundaries, feeder routes, distribution routes, and drops to premises.
  • Determine fiber and coax component allocations and review field staking sheets, as-Builts, and field-collected data to determine optimal running lines and construction methods.
  • Analyze aerial imagery and general maps to identify existing utilities or potential obstructions and produce high-quality constructible plan sets using GIS-based software.
Requirements:
  • Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Ability to contribute and work well on a team.
  • Qualifications: Associate's/bachelor's degree in engineering/design or equivalent work experience, general knowledge in OSP construction methods and best practices, 3-6 years of Coax/HFC design experience, general knowledge of HFC, DOCSIS, and FTTx networks, and knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Software products.
