Job Summary

Key Responsibilities
  • Support Student Learning: Assist classroom teachers in implementing Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and monitoring student progress.
  • Provide Individualized Support: Offer one-on-one support to students inside and outside the classroom to ensure their full participation in activities.
  • Collaborate with Professionals: Work with speech therapists, social workers, occupational and physical therapists to provide comprehensive support to students.
  • Maintain Student Records: Assist classroom teachers in maintaining accurate and up-to-date student records.
  • Coordinate ARD Meetings: Assist in scheduling Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings and Individual Evaluations/Review of Existing Evaluation Data (REED) to ensure timely completion.
  • Acquire Contracted Services: Assist in acquiring contracted service providers as needed to support student needs.
  • Evaluate Student Progress: Regularly evaluate student progress and use findings to inform special education services.
  • Communicate with Parents: Update and send IEP Report Cards to parents in a timely manner.
  • Support General Education Teachers: Plan and implement strategies to support general education teachers in achieving educational goals for students with special needs.
  • Ensure Compliance: Ensure compliance with state-mandated assessments and alternative assessments, including selection and administration.
  • Support Campus Administrator: Assist the campus administrator with the Response to Intervention process.
  • Seek Guidance: Seek assistance as needed from IDEA Coordination supervisor.
  • Implement Policies: Implement ResponsiveEd's Special Education school board policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
  • Compile Reports: Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other documents required by law and/or the Director of Special Education.
Requirements
  • Education: High school graduate or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate.
  • Experience: Prior experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent.
  • Certifications/Courses: Satisfy one of the following requirements: three creditable years of experience as an Educational Aide I or II, 30 semester hours of college credit with an emphasis on child growth and development or related subject areas, or completion of an Education Service Center Instructional Aide certification course.
