Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Healthcare Planner to join our integrated team of design professionals. The selected candidate will combine creativity and technical knowledge to design and lead teams in the creation of innovative healthcare spaces that focus on optimized operations and user experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead in the conceptual design of complex healthcare projects, establishing planning principles and translating client operational models into architectural design/medical plans.
  • Facilitate clinical user group meetings, generating solutions in real-time and leading team members in creating and coordinating architectural documentation that supports planning concepts.
  • Review and validate that governing regulatory codes and hospital licensing standards are met, and coordinate or prepare drawings and designs in accordance with NK standards and quality expectations.
  • Participate in and may lead team meetings to discuss project issues, technical issues, and coordination with other disciplines.
  • Maintain detailed documentation of client meetings pertaining to clinical planning and medical equipment client decisions.
Requirements
  • 15+ years of related experience as a Medical Planner, with a deep understanding of healthcare facilities from master planning and programming to small interior renovations.
  • Advanced knowledge of current healthcare planning and programming concepts, including patient safety, evidence-based design principles, and general industry benchmarks.
  • Ability to lead clinical user meetings for needs assessment and prepare functional and space programs, as well as lead clinical user meetings during all phases of design.
  • Understanding of multiple service line operations and how the plan impacts use of space, as well as experience working with medical equipment planners.
  • Experience with developing thought leadership publications and participating in speaking engagements, and a desire to mentor and cultivate an interest in healthcare planning within the team and practice area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • ACHA Certification, CHID certification, LEAN, EDAC certification, LEED AP, or WELL certified.
  • Knowledge of Newforma, Deltek Vision, or Vantagepoint, as well as familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite and Bluebeam Revu.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft office, including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
