Position Summary:
The Water Chief Operator plays a pivotal role in overseeing the daily operations, maintenance, and testing of water processing systems. This position ensures adherence to environmental, safety, and operational protocols while maintaining effective communication with clients to foster strong relationships. The Chief Operator is also responsible for state reporting and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the Project Manager in the operational management of water and wastewater systems, ensuring compliance with safety, quality assurance, and performance standards.
  • Assist in human resource functions, including recruitment, performance evaluations, and team development, while collaborating with safety and training teams to ensure comprehensive training for all personnel.
  • Analyze water and wastewater reports to assess current and future needs, ensuring consistent monitoring and recordkeeping across the facility.
  • Prepare and submit reports related to chemical and bacteriological analyses of water to regulatory bodies and for administrative purposes.
  • Engage in client meetings to address service issues professionally and assist in the preparation of regulatory reports.
  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to establish site-specific goals and implement necessary process improvements.
  • Evaluate employee performance and align skills with job requirements to achieve business objectives effectively.
  • Proactively manage safety and environmental compliance, ensuring adherence to federal and state regulations.
  • Develop and maintain emergency response plans for potential operational disruptions.
  • Support capital improvement initiatives and coordinate with contractors and consultants as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Three to five years of progressive supervisory experience in a related field, with a strong understanding of industry practices.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Proven leadership skills with a solid grasp of human resources principles.
  • Knowledge of operations management, safety protocols, and regulatory compliance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to manage conflicting priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with all levels of personnel.
  • Proficient in preparing clear and concise reports and documentation.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.

Certifications:

  • Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
  • RI Certifications in Water Treatment (3T) or the ability to obtain certification within six months.
